Coachella

Went to LA over the weekend. 1.5 hours after I landed at LAX I run in to non other than Dave Wong... at Hurry Curry... with a girl... work it Dave! That was followed by a typical weekend evening in California for me... hanging out with a bunch of people from Texas.

Checked into the W Westwood at 5:30am Sat morning. Slept there for 4 hours and checked out. I was using an award night so it was free... but the bill was for $0.03. I asked them to charge it... they refused. haha

Got in some beach time on Sat, although I must say that I am pretty bummed out about not surfing. The waves almost looked big enough to rip in Santa Monica... ended up just laying there trying to get a tan(unsuccessfully).

Sunday... Coachella Day 2. I had been to shows of this scale before, Lollapalooza, Ultra, Area2 so it wasn't so much a new experience for me as it was just a chance to hear some bad ass music live. The Muse were rocking... the Flaming Lips were hilariously out of their minds, and the Cure... well they blew everyone away. ( They said on the radio this morning that The Muse are going on tour with The Cure later this year. Go check it out. ) 106 degree weather was a little rough... but it went away by sunset. that made the rest of the evening much more enjoyable.

I would say 25-50% of the people on my flight leaving LA were there for coachella... everyone was talking about it until the in-flight movie came on. After that I got stuck at O'hare for 6 hours as my flight was delayed coming in from New York. I think I got to my hotel in Minneapolis around 4:30am... at which point my weekend officially came to an end.
