Immigration Bastards!!!

I’m am angry.  Hulk Smash angry.

Sarah was refused for her VISA to come to the US last week.  It was so traumatic for her, as I’m sure it is for everyone else who goes through the immigration process to come to the US.  In the next few weeks I will try to wrap thing up here and go to China for a few months to try to resolve this issue but more importantly to be there for Sarah.  She needs me now.  Hopefully we will be able to come back after the wedding.

In a fit of anger and impatience, I signed up to take the Department of State’s Foreign Service exam.  From what I’ve read, its one of the hardests tests you can take.  The reason being that it draws from a large pool of worldwide information to test your knowledge.  If there is one thing I am good at, it has to be absorbing information.  Everyone has always told Sarah that she was suited to be the wife of a Diplomat, so maybe this is her chance.  I’m just going to take the test… because the whole acceptance process for Foreign Service takes almost a year.  Time is not something I have enough of right now.

How Ghetto is Philadelphia?

Got a Gun? Turn it in for Sixers Tickets – “Police seek weapons - no questions asked - to be melted and turned into playground equipment.”

I’ve seen Toy’s for Tots day at Mavs games, but this is ridiculous.  I guess they are openly admitting that NBA fans in filly are gun toting criminals.  Anyone know any good handgun deals?  I wanna see Iggy drunk in person.

Tomorrow is the big day!

Sarah will find out tomorrow if she can come to the US or not.  Our future hinges on the US consulate in Guangzhou!

Valentines Day

Just another hectic day at work.  Valentines day seems to be one of the busiest days of the year for wireless carriers.  There are so many deals and promotions going on.  Of course, its driving me nuts.

Its 7:49pm and I am outta here…

Late Winter Hiking

Vivek and I

This is a picture from last week, when I was “on the beach”.  One of the few perks about being a consultant is that when you are between projects, you have some freedom as to how you spend your time.  Most of it should be spent getting caught up with administrative tasks as well as spending time doing e-learning sessions or helping the management do proposals.

Of course, this is not enforced… so if you happen to get your work done, you have plenty of free time to spend as you wish.  Its not as great as you would imagine, because lets face it… doing it by youself is not that great.  I went snowboarding a few times on my own… Its great the first few times… you don’t have to deal with lift lines and crowded slopes.  But I guess I am the type that likes to share fun times with friends.

Vivek and I went with the best intentions and hiked up Little Si upon seeing the steep snowcovered peak of Mt Si.  Hey… its still winter time and it could have been dangerous, not to mention that I am out of shape.  Still it was a fun time and a good exercise to hike the 5 mile round trip.

I won’t be as sad this year when the snow melts, as there are a lot of hiking destinations in Western Washington that I look forward to tackling this spring/summer.  Hopefully Sarah will be here in a months time and I’ll be able to show her why I love living in the Pacific Northwest.

Booboo at work

I f*ed up at work on Friday.  Its not a good feeling.  Basically I just started working on my first local project of my consulting career and I screwed it up.  I was helping the client set up some rate plans in SAP CRM and basically, I forgot to activate one of the root folders. Basically what it boils down to is that their call centers had to be shut down for a few hours while they scrambled to resolve this problem.  I shudder to think on the dollar impact of my ignorant oversights.

It definately was my fault and I feel really bad about it…. not such a good way to start this weekend.  Oh well… Monday would have been much worse.
