July 24, 2006Deloitte ShanghaiI’m about to head to Shanghai to have a talk with Deloitte Consulting there. Even though I’m with Deloitte in the US… the company in different countries are set up as an entirely different entities for legal reasons. If all goes well I could be working for Deloitte in China!

July 23, 2006Blogger BannedIt seems that the Great Firewall of China has put @blogspot.com on its blacklist. While blogger.com is accessible no google hosted blog account can be accessed from where I am. Another major thing that ticks me off is that Wikipedia doesn’t work here. While its true that there are many mirror sites of wikipedia content that are not blocked, its the principle of the matter that ticks me off. Blocking an online encyclopedia is a most blatant act of censoring the truth! Grrr!!! Posted by Chioubaccalovin at 3:32 AM

Movable Type 3.3I’ve been wanting to move over to Wordpress ever since 2.0 came out. However I was lazy and have been putting it off. The main reason I wanted to switch was for the spam fighting capabilities of Wordpress. In the meantime Movable Type has release version 3.3 which pretty much gets rid of the comment spamming problem without even having to use a Captcha program. So instead of having to go through a complete redesign for Wordpress… I upgraded to 3.3 over the weekend and am going to stick with it for a while. Posted by Chioubaccalovin at 1:04 AM

July 19, 2006Great Wall of ChinaDuring our trip to Beijing, we chartered a bus to go to the Mutianyu part of the Great wall of China. The last few times I went to the Great Wall the weather had been miserable from heavy fog to subzero temperatures. This was the first time to Mutianyu… all other trips had been to Badaling. We still had about 20 people left over from those who attended the wedding in China. Half of us were lazy and took the gondola up… the other half hiked. It was a beautiful day and there were not many people there. Posted by Chioubaccalovin at 7:22 AM

July 11, 2006chioubaccaweddingThe day of the wedding is one that will not be forgotten by any of us that were there. Thank god that we checked the weather report the previous week and moved the afternoon ceremony into the church. At about 10am that morning the sky turned black and typhoon speed winds whipped through the city. The waves on XiHu were big enough to surf on. At the hotel nextdoor where some of the guests were staying, a 50ft tree blew over and crushed a few taxicabs. Needless to say, I was quite worried. However, about an hour before the wedding the skies cleared up and the sun came out to what would be a gorgeous afternoon. Posted by Chioubaccalovin at 9:57 AM
